School Uniform
The Governors and staff believe that a certain standard of appearance and dress encourages a sense of responsibility and shows that children are proud to come to Queen’s Dyke School.
Safety issues related to children’s dress for school have been considered in drawing up the school’s policy for uniform.

Availability
Sweatshirts, cardigans, polo shirts and T-shirts for PE, all with the school logo on them, can be ordered from the school office. Swimming hats are also available from the school office. Please ensure that all items of clothing are permanently labeled with the child’s name either with a sewn-in label or permanent marker.
School colours
The school colour is red with complimentary colours of white, grey and black.
The School Uniform is:
- Trousers – in grey or black (sold as school trousers)
- Skirt or pinafore dress – in grey or black
- Plain shorts in the summer – in grey or black (no logos)
- Summer dress with sleeves – red/white check
- Plain shirt or polo shirt with collar – in white
- Sweatshirt or cardigan – in red
- Socks, tights – white, black or grey
Footwear
- For all children, footwear should be secure, dark and flat.
- Summer sandals should be flat, with a strap, and sufficiently secure to provide support to the foot when running.
- For safety reasons socks should be worn with all footwear, including summer sandals.
Trainers are not suitable except for outdoor PE
PE clothing
- Shorts – in black or navy
- T-shirt – in white without any sports logos
- Plimsolls or trainers for outdoor PE
- Jogging suits are useful in cold weather (plain, no logos)
Football tops are not suitable
Swimming
- Swimwear for girls should be one-piece; shorts for boys (not surf/board shorts)
- All children are required to wear a swimming hat
- For safety, all earrings should be removed for swimming lessons
Hair and headwear
- Long hair and braids should be tied back
- Appropriate headwear would be permitted on religious grounds
Jewellery
- A watch and ear studs are the only items of jewellery allowed
- Ear studs should be removed or taped over for all PE activities, according to County Policy
